One of the most difficult challenges in the Christian life is the matter of maintaining balance. It is easy to focus on things we like and enjoy while neglecting things we dislike. As this can happen in Christian duties, such as, fasting, tithing, or witnessing, it can also occur in how we study the Bible. There are some who love to read the Psalms and Proverbs but shy away from reading Leviticus or the Minor Prophets. Likewise, some become self-taught students of prophecy to the neglect of doctrine.
How can we maintain balance while being a student of the Scriptures? One of the best ways, in my opinion, is to study the Bible from a topical direction. At the back of many Bibles is a topical index that lists potential areas of study, such as, idolatry, abominations, and promises, with each topic being followed by a reference.
What if a study was actually made of key topics which allowed a person to study the different kinds of altars used in the Bible with a contemporary application for every-day living? The three volumes of Topical Bible Studies accomplishes this very purpose. Each volume consists of an alphabetical arrangement of Bible topics numbering seventy-one in all three volumes.
For example, lesson three of volume one deals with altars in the Bible. Noah built an altar for thanksgiving while Abraham built an altar of faith. Isaac built an altar for protection while Moses built an altar for warfare. Following the many victories in the Promised land, Joshua then erected an altar of praise.
These lessons are presented in such a way that they provide a wealth of information for individual Bible study, for teaching as a Sunday School lesson, or as a sermon outline that can be preached. These volumes will become one of the most beneficial and personally rewarding tools for studying the Bible that a person will be able to purchase.
Sunday school lessons from BCA Publications are authored by our pastor, Dr. Mike Holloway. Each lesson is carefully studied and prepared from the King James Bible, so you can be confident that it is doctrinally sound. Our material has been used in an independent, fundamental, soul winning, separated, Baptist church since the founding of our college in 1993.
Each book is comb-bound for ease of use while teaching and preaching.
