When it comes to most things in life, the easiest position to take is that of an extreme. People can easily find themselves either for or against nearly everything. The most challenging position, however, is to find and maintain a balanced position. Avoiding extremism requires understanding and discernment as well as strength. For example, religion is usually divided into extremes such as the positions maintained by the Amish and the Charismatics. One group is totally against change while the other knows no boundaries.
