Probably one of the best characterizations of our flesh is found in how a lion tamer handles the big cats in a cage. He can spend hours every day training them. He can nurture them when they are young and feed them as they continue to grow. However, no matter how much he loves them, he cannot trust them, and they must always be kept in their place. The flesh is that same kind of wild beast that yearns to be free. As long as we are watching, it will behave itself; but it will never cease to be a wild beast. While it will never be conquered, it can and must be dominated on a daily basis. How?
