Leadership books abound that attempt to build or train leaders, yet the vast majority of them fail miserably for one reason. They fail to take into account the fact that before a man can be a leader, he must first learn how to be a follower. Prior to entering the ministry, I spent three years in the Army as an enlisted man and then seven years in the Navy as an officer. During those years, I came to believe that my prior service as an enlisted man made me a better officer because I was able to appreciate both sides of a situation. The same principle applies to spiritual leadership. God can only build and raise up men who have first learned how to serve. This book entitled Man’s Highest Calling highlights various qualities expected by God as we partner with Him in developing ourselves into the greatest calling of all—a servant of God.
